With classes temporarily suspended until March because of the coronavirus, I want to share with you my experience with facilitating and managing virtual classes.
Having put together over a dozen virtual courses, I know the challenges teachers like you face in setting up online learning for students, structuring the course content, conducting virtual meetings, and ensuring students are engaged and productive during this month away from school.
That’s why I have spent the last 72 hours, locked away in my flat to put together a series of simple tutorials that help support teachers like you with virtual teaching during this difficult time. The comprehensive e-course will:
- Teach how to organize and plan out your virtual course content
- Create short mini-lessons for students (including videos, handouts, and sample assignments)
- Assess and collect student work in a virtual setting
- Keep students highly engaged and continually learning
- How to use video conferencing most effectively for collaborative class and small group work
These tutorials are applicable for both novices and veterans in virtual platforms, who teach students as young as 7 to as old as 20. They will help teachers design engaging digital lessons for their students, and middle leaders and tech coordinators support their teachers in transitioning to online teaching and learning.
The full course is available here for 400 HKD (50 USD/ 360 RMB) per teacher. Since I designed the course to be a shared learning experience, I am offering free Zoom support sessions for groups/ schools that enroll more than 5 educators. Please e-mail me personally if you would like to enroll a group and I can provide details around the support calls.
Linked here is the first lesson in virtual online course creation so that you can get started right away.
I look forward to supporting your transition to home learning!
