When you finish a project, how do you know it went well?
Last week I posed that very question to a team of 3rd grade teachers who had recently finished a project on waste management. I simply asked them, ‘How did the project go?’
Their reactions varied. Some teachers couldn’t wait to have another go, and some wished the project had ended three weeks earlier.
The truth is, there is no such thing as a “bad” or “perfect” project. Projects all involve a myriad of highs and lows; successes and failures; triumphs and tribulations. They are a delicate balance of managing expectations and ensuring outcomes.
The good news is that with careful reflection and evaluation, we can ensure we are improving in each project we lead.
