So where do you start in re-envisioning or modifying your learning spaces?
Start by bringing in stakeholders across your community. Uncover their shared values for learning spaces by discussing their (s) specific needs. Distribute pictures of several innovative spaces and ask them to identify which one (s) they find most compelling.
Next, schedule visits to nearby schools and spaces that embody this vision. Prototype a few of their layouts and observe how students respond.
Chances are you won’t get it right the first time. Use consistent and regular feedback sessions to ensure you are evolving in your thinking.
Here is a wonderful design thinking guide put out by the Stanford d School that will help you in the process.
